Growing up, Sydnee always had a passion for teaching. My name is Halle Weaver. Westwood native Ashley Smith-Wallace can cite time-honored reasons for her success as a youthful Irish step dancer, and then as a multi-style dancer/choreographer and rising actress and singer things like hard work, patience, support from family and friends, and good fortune. She was born in Boston Massachusetts and began taking Irish dance lessons from her father and mother, owners of the Smith-Houlihan Irish Dance Academy, at the age of three. She was one of the top 30 female finalists on the hit TV show, So You Think You Can Dance? She was also a featured dancer in the Oscar-nominated film, Silver Linings Playbook, starring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert De Niro. Smith-Wallace stayed in the New York City area and began making headway in show business, appearing in productions of West Side Story, Peter Pan, A Chorus Line, Guys and Dolls and Pippin, among others. When I came in second, my dad said that maybe this is as good as it gets. But I thought to myself, No, its not. And I came back the next year and I won. Especially group fitness! The dancer has also starred in several musical theater productions as Kristine in the Tibbits Opera House production of A Chorus Line; as Anybodys in the Fireside Theater production of West Side Story; and as Brooke Wyndham in the Hoboken Theater Companys production of Legally Blond. Camille is a Junior from Chandler, Arizona studying Dance at Brigham Young University where she has been a member of BYU Kinnect Dance Company for two years and the President her second year; Kinnect is an outreach dance company that performs and teaches at Utah elementary/junior high schools. Ashley also trained in jazz, theatre and modern styles during her childhood years. This allowed her to dance at studios all around the US and the world. Berry first encountered Smith-Wallace at the 2009 Irish Dancing Championships, where she won her third gold medal putting her squarely on Berrys radar. After graduating from college, Ashley received a full scholarship to study and perform at the Giordano Dance School in Evanston, IL as a member of the Giordano 3 Company. In 2017, she was lead dancer in Rockin Road to Dublin, a nationally touring Irish-rock fusion show, and last month she was the featured female dancer in the 17th annual production of A Christmas Celtic Sojourn. The latter event brought her back to the Boston area for a whirlwind two weeks of practices and performances, during which she made many new friends while relishing the chance to integrate her new skills and outlooks into a more familiar milieu. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Utah Valley University. I love to snow ski, hike, go boating, and do hair!
