lane 1q vs bca

Now it's a very nice light English. Giving my impressions of the Karl Erik freehand, as well of this famous aromatic mixture, Lane's 1Q/BCA. It burned fine. Extremely tasty and creamy. Pipe Used: Danmore Dublin & Country Gent Meer. Lots of aromatics lose there flavoring around half way down, due to the casings heating up and running down to the heel of the pipe. If you asked me, I would suggest you try it as I prefer this one over 1Q, it's an awesome spring/summer smoke. It will leave the pipe dry and clean, and doesn't even build up much cake. It is loaded with flavors of vanilla, and nuts. Even though there's definitely a lot of casing on the blend it takes a light fairly well and still burns nice. This is a major-league SWEET aromatic. Everyone at some point needs to try this out. I also like the way they color with BCA. But there's nothing wrong with that, is there? There are a lot of black Cavendish pipe tobaccos out there and I like quite a few of them but this one ranks at or near the top. I will recommend to aromatic fans, but remember to dedicate a pipe to this blend because the flavor stays in the pipe for a long time. The first smoke, on an empty stomach, I got a little headache and decided to quit after smoking half a bowl. Delicious, cool burning, bite free, good pipe comportment when smoked on its own, fabulous as a blending tobacco. No bite, no burn! Easy to light mild aromatic with a exquisite mild berry taste that is cool and refreshing. For the cost, it is a great vanilla buy, but nothing I would stock up on and want to smoke on a consistent basis. Truly a classic aromatic that has to rank with 1Q as being at the top of Lane's best selling tobaccos. Although I've smoked a pipe for a number of years I only recently smoked my first bowl of BC-A and all things considered, this is one of the best aromatics I've smoked. I got tired of my mouth feeling like someone farted in it the next morning. I will be getting more of this as I only picked up only 1oz to sample. I will add detail later, but this has become the MOST essential tobacco in my collection. I like the Lane aromatics! It didn't produce any condensation & burned down to a dry gray ash. Note to another reviewer: This is not Midnight by Tinderbox. Fire-cured Cavendish tobaccos discreetly flavored to produce an extremely mild, slow burning cool smoke. Not my favorite ever as McClellands VBC has tons and tons more flavor with less PG. Definitely something for any smoker to try. If you have a favorit tobacconist, and he has a tobacco bar, chances are BCA is on it. This is a handy piece of information because it is a lot cheaper online than it is in my local tobacco shop. This tobacco, this tobacco Francine, oh my God, this tobacco, oh my God!" I'll probably take advantage of the cup-o-joes sale and get it for about $1.46/oz. It may not display this or other websites correctly. Also a perfect base for blending mixtures. The vanilla was still there but it was more of a faint toasted vanilla. Like many novice smokers, I started off with aromatics, and to that end, this blend rocks. This is the finest American black Cavendish and the best blend ever created by lane limited, smoke it as it is or use it for blending, this tobacco works in every single way. Mainly the reason I like it is because it HAS a taste, to me at least. I gave a friend some RLP - 6 to smoke when his tinderbox equivalent 'chartwell' (I might have remembered that name wrong) ran out. I expected it to be mild but not bland. I tried this out along with lane 1q. Reply . It burns cool and sweet without bite. My wife likes it. My pipe almost feels fridged in my hand when I smoke this tobacco. I've been looking for a tobacco that I could actually say I really, really liked. They're usually made of Burley tobacco, the same stuff that's most commonly used in cigarettes, and that would certainly contribute to your aftertaste, though to some degree all tobaccos will leave you with a tobacco aftertaste. Experienced pipe smokes already know what they enjoy, but if you are new to pipe smoking, or just want to try a delightful aromatic, this is the blend for you. Its great stuff for what it is. A very good occasional after dinner smoke! It's cooler than PA, which I love a lot with my morning coffee. Nice smoke, very mild and not ooomph at all. Bag 5 lb. I love Black Cavs and this one is the cream of the crop! This is also a great blender. For an aromatic I really like this one for its simple smooth vanilla flavor. There are only two things holding me back from giving this a four star rating. I'm a veteran pipe smoker and I only smoke aros on occasion. Liquor and chocolate are the first to disappear, sugar hangs out a little longer, and vanilla is the last to go at 3/4's the way. This stuff is dirt cheap, too. The BCA that I received was dry enough and smelled good. Being a ex-cig smoker, this baccy's nicotine level is way too low; and I do not enjoy aromatics anymore, but i still recommend this baccy if it suits your tastes. It's amazing the similarity between this tobacco and "captain black-dark" i think smokingpipes stole the patent from captain black ;)))))))) Soft, jet black tobacco, that has been pleasing pipe smokers for a very long time. I am normally a Balkan/English smoker but sometimes like to smoke an aromatic from time to time. Is it the whole Green River thing? The nicotene content is mild at best. It's capable of so much more than just an everyday smoke too. It smokes well and cool, and it tastes just right for my palette, slightly sweet and smooth with no bite. But I do like it by itself. Burns cool, clean and a little slow with a deeply sweet, smooth, mildly creamy consistent flavor that never weakens. But I don't see BCA being a match for CB Cherry: BCA is all black cavendish and doesn't taste or smell like cherry at all. I do recommend it though to toss a pinch into a latakia blend to add an element of sweet. It's mild, burns nicely and has a mellow, brown sugar taste to it. Maybe that's something others will find as obvious, but after 20+ years of s moking unblended Black Cavendish straight I can say this one is not one I will return to with out using it in a mix. This is a great tasting tobacco with what I currently consider a full body and great flavor, on top of that it smells just as good! The point I'm getting at is I could put Cheerio's in a private label cereal box and some people would say that it's close but not the same. Get exclusive updates on all our fresh offerings, sales, and promotions -- right to your inbox. I see many complaints here about dottle and wetness. Either way, you'll find out eventually that BCA is the only "aromatic" tobacco you'll keep coming back to time and time again. Here are my impressions primarily focused on how I like it versus 1Q. So I'll give this another go after dinner some night. For a change I may mix the following 1:Add about 25% of your favorite VA especially some fresh C&D bright va with a citrus flavor. Update This makes an okay blender, but smoked alone, ick! This is my wife's favorite room note tobacco. Maybe my tastes have changed but it was hard to find anything good about this tobacco. JavaScript is disabled. It does need to dry out a little bit as it can be a little wet but drys pretty quick. I liked it so much after another bowl, I ordered several pounds to cellar to have on hand when I feel like a good aromatic. I smoke it through a meerschaum. This is one of my favorite blends. Depending on the latakia blend I add at most 25% BCA for a nice change of pace. I mix mine, 4 ounces of BCA to 4 ounces of 1-Q which tames the golden Cavendish and gives the BCA flavor. Lots of goop! Absolutely no tongue bite and burns very cool in a cob pipe. Like all heavily-cased artificial aromatics, this belongs in the garbage. This is definitely one I'll keep in my cellar and probably one of the first ones I'll break out if I'm introducing a newbie to a pipe. Easy smoking, easy packing, easy on the pallet. Pipe Used: 2015 XXX Ashton Brindle Author, A standard black Cavendish, but I felt that the topping was slightly too much for me. I'll hover between two and three stars on this as well. I had tried several aromatics from my local tobacco shop, many of which I liked before trying BCA. give it a try it just might be your all day smoke.let me know.p.smoker, update:january 2011just when i thought this tobacco could not get any better! What else do you need in an aromatic? i have never had a bowl of anything else last anywhere near BCA, ive smoked for close to 2 hours in a medium sized bowl. 7/04 - I cannot believe I have not reviewed BCA before today. Thick, creamy smoke is produced, and just about everyone around compares it to baking cookies or other kind of sugary goodness. Besides the price, the best thing about BCA is that its relatively devoid of some of the strange off-flavors that I pick-up in a number of straight black Cavendish's. Reccomended to anyone who has a bit of a sweet tooth. I bought a beautiful Savinelli Onda and went on to try a number of tobacco blends. Great for first time smokers. This will surely let you know if your blend is irritating your mouth. It pairs amazingly well with tonic water with ice and a slice of lime in it. The Black Cavendish blend is well over the top though. I cut my pipe teeth on Lane BCA and 1Qand still smoke both today. Sutliff (Altadis) B37 Casanova --- No bite, good generic flavor while and after smoking, good steady burn, and good room aroma. I suppose this could be an all-day smoke due to how mild it is, but why would you pick it over anything else? The taste is simple but enjoyable without any of that chemical flavor. I really like this one any time I want to satisfy my sweet tooth, even though it does give me dry mouth and throat when smoked straight. You'll expect that once you smell it. Mild yet flavorful, with good body. BCA is more complex than most cavendishes, and is solid for any aromatic smokers. |, We use the SafeSurf Rating System to signify that PipesMagazine.com is for adults only. Definitely some moisture even from that. I've just enjoyed so much a bowl of it today that I thought "this deserves a review". I do not enjoy using it as a stand alone blendaroma is too cloyingly sweet for my senses and there is not much in the tobacco flavor or nicotine department. Not much more here than chocolate and vanilla, maybe some cream, but sometimes that's enough. Im used to stronger stuff (although in aromatincs mildness is something to thank for), but still I crave for this one more often than not. This was my first pipe tobacco. Lane, no insult. This is my first review and I have been trying to find a few blends to stock up on. This truly is a special blend that everyone should try at least once. Still the creamy smoke but now accompanied by a nice enough flavor of chocolate and caramel. Smokes hot, difficult to light and keep lit, and lacking in flavor with a tendency to bite. Quick View Deal The JR price has been reduced! It does require quite a bit of drying time before it's ready to be stoked but it has a surprisingly good burning rate considering the dampness & stickiness while rubbing it between your fingers. It's been called Ebony, Onyx, Spanish Galleon, and I also suspect that Midnight from Tinder Box is the same stuff. If I want a little heavier or more complex flavor I'll mix it with 1-Q or something else nice. Keep up the good work..Thanks. Rather cool smooth smoke. Nice spicy overtones when smoking, though! Lane Limited BCA Pipe Tobacco (Black Cavendish) has been the best-selling black Cavendish in the United States for decades. I also found that it works well for me to tame some of th Enjoyable from the start!!! I have also, after being asked my thoughts about McClellend 5110, if I have noticed much of a difference between Frog Morton and 5110 and after smoking both side by side, they are close..so . A great tobacco to blend with or smoke all by itself . The nic-hit is very mild. Coolno bitewonderful clouds of smokenot wet at all, and tamped in nicely. As another company has said about their tobaccos, often imitated, never duplicated! Many, I'm sure may enjoy the flavor & strength but I was also sampling this for a mixture additive that didn't work out. Mild, never bite, very-very mild warm flavor. Unfortunately, this blend let me down. If you like aromatic pipe tobacco try this, this old tobacco may become your new tobacco. If you are in doubt about the best , this in my opinion is as good as it gets. It burns really cool, but does get a little goopy and messy. I've smoked this blend off and on for many years. Two stars. My first reaction was Wow! It's just like smoking sweetness itself. If you like aromatics with sweetness & a little more kick, stoke some of this in your pipe & smoke it! You'ld be hard pressed to do better in a Black Cavendish. I also got some Lane RLP-6 and I cannot tell the difference between them. I have mixed it with Lane hazelnut and Mac Baren Vanilla Cream. (Also, BCA is excellent for "taming" some harsher tobaccos). So, as I was carefully sipping this smooth, creamy, tasteful tobacco, expecting the usual steam and bite that most tobaccos of this type are, I just felt a coolness on my tongue. For a tobacco whose room note is not overly appealing, you can use this (sparingly) to spice things up without interfering too heavily with taste. BCA smokes just fine by itself. Prince Albert (which I have also rated at 2) is a far superior tobacco, but my tastes lean toward a non-aromatic, so I am biased. And tamped in nicely than PA, which i love a lot of casing on the pallet here. Ounces of BCA to 4 ounces of 1-Q which tames the golden Cavendish and gives the BCA that could.
